FIJI


A tropical island in the south western Pacific - SUVA, the CAPITAL is located on the Island of Viti Levu - one of more than 800 Islands belonging to Fiji. This Group of Islands is approx. 1,900 miles northeast of Sydney, Australia.

While in Suva, we visited downtown, the splendid tropical gardens, the harbour but to get the feel of this exotic Island one should visit a cultural center. There one can see the history of the Island and the people.We normally do not visit "Cultural Centers" as most of the performances are at best only meager replicas of the past. In this case, however, we were glad we did take in the show. I believe that the stepping on hot stones is a show of manhood and courage. Well, these young men did show great courage by not only walking, but standing on extremely hot stones.
