CASSINO during 1970 - A place of historic importance.





Center row , the third picture from the left shows the Monestary "Monte Cassino" during peace time before it was destroyed.

The next Picture to the right shows "Monte Cassino" during the war, when it was completely demolished.

The Picture on the end of the row shows Monte Cassino in its full splendor, after re-construction.

It was said that the cost of the re-construction was approx 8 Billion US currency (at that time) paid by the American Tax payer. As of late I seen an anouncement by the Papal State, that the re-construction was paid by the Vatican.
